Latest Chron poll numbers

The latest poll from the Chron gives Governor Goodhair a 49-37 lead over Tony Sanchez. John Sharp is shown with a three-point lead over David Dewhurst for Lt. Governor, John Cornyn is leading Ron Kirk 45-39 in the Senate race, and Greg Abbott leads Kirk Watson 41-33 for Attorney General. Typically, the Chron notes that Sharp's lead is withing the margin of error (given as 3.9%), but fails to note that the same is true for the Senate race, since margin of error is for each candidates' total and not for the difference.

I'll be back at Sanchez headquarters tonight calling voters again. I'll report back on the mood and the response tomorrow.

Did you see "60 Minutes" last night? It felt like you were back in town, as the two main stories focused on an odd doctor in Irvine and the Kirk-Cornyn race. Wished they would have shown the Kirk segment sooner. I really like him and would have sent him cash.

And hey, you're from Texas. What, exactly, are "Texas values?"

I'm only an immigrant here in Texas. My naturalization paperwork is still in the system. :-)

"Texas values" are generally equivalent to the values of the speaker. This is why no one ever specifies what he or she means by that.

Seriously, you'd get fairly broad consensus on family, independence, toughness, and patriotism. How that differs from Kansas values or New Jersey values is left as an exercise for the reader.
