Congrats to Matt

Congratulations to Matthew Yglesias, who has been named a Writing Fellow at The American Prospect. There's quite a few writing pros who have become bloggers, but Matt's the first (though surely not the last) example of a blogger becoming a professional, at least as far as I know. I join the many commenters on Matt's site in offering my best wishes and saluting TAP for their good taste.

Just for the record, Atrios has a spot on the Daily New's (well, one of the NY papers. I am not usre of the name, now that I think about it) blog. I a ssume he is being paid for that, and Reynolds now has a blog on MSNBC, which, I assume, he is also paid for.

Atrios is writing for the NY Press, an alternative weekly in New York, but AFAIK only online, not for their dead-tree edition (which I rarely read).

I really meant that Matt's the first all-amateur blogger to get hired as a full-time pundit that I could think of. Reynolds and Atrios have leveraged their blogging gigs into some paid work, but Matt may be starting on a career here. That feels different to me.
