Tom DeLay

The Sunday Chron had two articles on Tom DeLay, a front page profile and an overview of his fundraising tactics. I confess, Dear Reader, that I have not yet summoned the intestinal fortitude to wade through the first article. My head is hanging shamefully, I assure you.

I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one who couldn't stomach it. It's still sitting on my reading table. I lived in Delay's district for three years and had the pleasure of voting against him twice. In fact, if memory serves, one of the best feelings I've ever had was in November 1990 when I got to vote against Delay, Gramm and my homeboy Clayton Williams at one time. Unfortunately, only Claytie lost. We've reaped the whirlwind of nastiness since then.

There was a semi-interesting article put out by either the AP or the Washington Post a few days ago that claimed Delay may hurt Shrubbie because of his "passionate" conservatism. What the article failed to acknowledge was that everything that it mentioned that Delay supported, Shrubbie supported as well. These guys are just 2 sides of the same coin - Delay (God forgive me for saying this) is just more forthright and truthful about his desires.

I still need to read both of these as well. I goofed around yesterday and didn't even read the funnies. Of course, reading about DeLay could put anybody off the funnies, not to mention breakfast. :-P

I read it, but wish I'd devoted more time to the comics or HP & The Order of the Phoenix.
