My contribution to Flood The Zone Friday

Sent from my Yahoo mailbox to [email protected]:

It was nice to see the article in today's paper that some parts of the oil patch are hiring. It's good to know that someone, somewhere, is creating jobs.

Since taking office in 2001, over 3 million jobs have disappeared from the American landscape. George W. Bush is on track to be the first President since Herbert Hoover to see a net loss in employment over a four year term. Amazingly enough, he'll achieve this record while creating half-trillion dollar deficits and being labeled the "mother of all big spenders" by the libertarian Cato Institute.

If America were a Fortune 500 company and Bush were the CEO, the board of directors would have handed him his golden parachute months ago. Perhaps next November, the American people will do it to him. The three million Americans left behind by Bush's economic policies can only hope so.

Remember to include your name, address, and telephone number when sending a letter to the editor. The Houston Chronicle policy is here, a list of talking points is here, and of course a list of media contact information can be found here by entering your ZIP code. Happy writing!
