Hoops update

Well, I got 22 out of a possible 32 in the first round of the NCAAs, putting me a solid 8th out of 9 in the BAN Hoops Contest. My sincere thanks to Jack for doing worse than I did. The WestPhoenix Regional was the least kind to me - I was only 4 for 8 there. Oh, well. There's a lot of basketball left to be played, we're gonna take it one day at a time and give 110%, we're just happy to be here...did I forget anything?

UPDATE: The definition of a mixed blessing during March Madness is when a team from your favorite conference wins an upset that shreds one of your brackets. Congrats to Nevada for manhandling Gonzaga. At least I wasn't in any danger of contending in this tournament anyway. Maybe Trent Johnson ought to be the hot coaching property coming out of the WAC this year instead of Billy Gillespie. Don't anyone tell Texas A&M that, though.

UPDATE: Et tu, Stanford? At least I only had Gonzaga losing in the Elite Eight. Stanford was my pick to win it all. It's official: I suck.

Since you're an underdog, you forgot "They put their pants on one leg at a time, just like me." ;-)

Gonzaga shreaded my bracket as well and I also had Stanford winning it all. Nevertheless, it's always nice to see a WAC team do well. I'm still pissed about Tulsa's meltdown in the second-round last year as a 13 seed.

Welcome to my world. I had Stanford winning it all, too. But, since I hate Stanford, it's not the end of the world. Now I can follow my heart and root for St. Joe's and Duke, like I wanted to.

The pool I'm in does the women's tournament, too, and I think I'm doing okay there. It's usually the only one I have any kind of chance in.

Well I had Gonzaga going to the finals so needless to say my bracket was shot, not to mention Stanford going for a couple more rounds.

Well it would have been dumb luck if I had done better. BTW I completely failed the reading comprehension part where you asked to put OTK in the names. Not sure you want to claim me though so perhaps just as well :)

Seems like Gonzaga only does well when they're the underdogs. Make 'em a #2 seed and watch 'em fold. Did anyone see what Andy Katz wrote about the Nevada-Gonzaga game? He basically said Gonzaga was a lock, that someone might knock them out but that there was no way Nevada could do it.

As Double B said, being a WAC alumnus it's great to see Nevada's run here.

No problem, Chuck...glad to help salve your ego (albeit at the expense of my own). I actually won my office pool last year, but it's hard to imagine that I'll be repeating this year. Yes, neither Tiger Woods or I will be repeating...and that, folks, is the ONLY thing I have in common with the aforementioned Mr. Woods.

Damn, I SO far down, I have to look up to see the bottom....

That's what you get for going against the hometown boy. Go uconn -- if only for the sake of my bracket.
