Another definition of blogging fame

I've always wanted to be a bonus assignment on someone's homework. Thanks, Ms. Jones, whoever you are.

If it's an assignment out of Spring Woods High School, it's got to be good. You know, both Ted Poe and Roger Clemens graduated from Spring Woods...

Hrmpf. Congrats. But I want equal time. Not that sending someone to your site, Kuff, is like screening Michael Moore movies for a captive class. But you do have a viewpoint, albeit always expressed with civility and eloquence.

To be more clear: I approve of encouraging students to become aware of politics and other current news topics. I also approve of acquainting kids with weblogs as an alternative to mainstream media sources. Finally, I also very definitely approve of this teacher's choice of your blog, Kuff — I can't think of a better one, especially for Houston-area kids.

I do think teachers ought to avoid partisan indoctrination, however, or anything that remotely smacks of that. Including a blog that comes at topics from a right-of-center slant for balance would be appropriate, I think. And I'd have made the converse (obverse?) argument if it'd been only my blog that had been in an extra-credit assignment.

I don't think this is a big deal. I wouldn't picket the school board if it were my kids involved. Just thinking out loud, so to speak.

Last scattered thought: I know you didn't solicit the link or participate in the teacher's decision, Kuff. I'm not criticizing you, nor really even Ms. Jones, so much as suggesting something that I think you and probably she might agree with if you'd thought of it first.
