Must see Greg TV

Greg Wythe gets to burn a few minutes off of his fame clock tonight as he appears on "Texas Politics-The Real Deal", a talk show hosted by liberal Democrat attorney David Jones and former Harris County GOP chair Gary Polland. It's on Time Warner channel 17 in Harris County from 6:30 to 7:30, and you can call in and heckle him at 713-807-1794. I need to tell the TiVo that this channel exists so I can record it. Knock 'em dead, Greg!

I don't think you can burn any time off of your fame clock if you're on a television station that TiVo doesn't recognize. That's like asking if a tree falling down in a forest makes a sound if no one hears it. :-)

Actually, the TiVo doesn't know this channel exists because I told it that channel doesn't exist. You can program the TiVo to not recognize various channels - the main reason to do this is to ensure that it doesn't go looking for stuff to record from there. Since one uses the TiVo remote to navigate channels, this also allows you to skip over the stations you never normally watch anyway for more convenient channel surfing.

Thanks for the clarification. With the DVR, all the channels exist. Now, if someone from Time Warner - Staten Island can explain to me why I have a "Staten Island On Demand" channel, I'll be happy.

Personally, I'm curious how the math works here. Technically, we're allotted 15 minutes of fame. Yet the show last an hour. Does it only count for 1/4th credit that I'm on a relatively low-rated show that even area political bloggers block from their TiVo? So many questions to ponder in this whiz-bang technologcal era.
