You're the President of the most powerful nation in the world. You're being blamed for the current economic turmoil, while your Treasury Secretary is busy making a fool of himself. Your business experience, a cornerstone of your campaign, is being shown to be a fraud, even by conservatives, while your Vice President is being sued by a conservative watchdog group over his allegedly fraudulent behavior as a CEO. And if that weren't enough, you're preparing for war.
So what do you do? Why, you go on vacation, of course. For a month.
Well, hey. Sometimes, when the chips are down, when the odds are stacked against you, when hack amateur pundits are taking cheap shots, there's only one thing to do. And you're just the man to do it.Posted by Charles Kuffner on July 29, 2002 to National news
Maybe he's going to see some of the world before he blows it all to shit.Posted by: arseblogger on July 29, 2002 9:55 AM
Except that he'll be spending it in Kennebunkport and at the ranch in Crawford. I'm pretty sure he's seen those places before.Posted by: Charles Kuffner on July 29, 2002 10:37 AM
There was a shot on the news yesterday of Bush out playing golf. He looked like he didn't have a care in the world. It sickened me.
I still don't understand how the people who voted for him because he's just "plain folks" and he was "like them" can feel that way. Sure, he's no major intellectual. But do people REALLY think that a guy who can take a 1 month vacation from his 6 figure salary job to play golf and go to his ranch REALLY understands their day to day problems?
I guess the upside is, he's not at work messing up more stuff.Posted by: Amy on July 29, 2002 12:46 PM
I think he needs an excuse to get Karen Hughes' advice. Things have relaly gone downhill for them since they lost her to the Texas GOP.
Well, that and the fact that he is a lazy s.o.b.Posted by: kevin on July 29, 2002 8:48 PM
