Chron endorses Kirk

The Chron endorsed Ron Kirk for Senate today. I'm surprised. Hell, I'm shocked. I'd have laid odds on Cornyn getting the nod. I would have thought that the pro-Bush angle would have been more than enough for them. I'll have to think about this.

I plan to vote for Spock myself. Oh damn, I already voted. Well, maybe next time.

I just about dropped my orange juice when I read the endorsement. Maybe this is the vaunted challenge-the-status-quo new regime at the Chron. Or maybe it's that Kirk has the pro-bidness thing down from his days in Dallas ...

The Chronicle's endorsements are about as thoughtful as a sack of trout, and they smell just as fishy. You only need look to the front page of the paper to realize just how poor the quality has gotten - they're starting a four part series on Enron, obstensibly because they hardly covered the story to begin with.

I was pretty sure they'd endorse Cornyn, too. I think I'm gonna just stop guessing.
