The MLB draft

Jayson Stark makes a great case for improving the Major League Baseball draft. It seems so obvious, only a chucklehead like Beelzebud Selig wouldn't get it. Which means, well, you know...

Oh, dear Lord, no! NOT TELEVISION! That'll bring lotteries, ping-pong balls, guys in suits wearing jersies and ballcaps, look-ins at families sitting around the teeveee, all that stupid crap. The baseball draft is such a long-run gamble, they probably shouldn't release the draftees' names for a year, to avoid embarrassing the general managers and leading to them being run out of town on a rail.
