I agree with the piece as well.

It's easier said than done, however. When the SI Ferry is full of firefighters on their way to the memorial services, several members of the Coast Guard are waiting at the dock and well armed, a NYPD helicopter is circling overhead throughout the Financial District, and the fact that I used to go past WTC on the bus on the way home (I was still in Riverdale) makes it difficult. I do agree, however, that obsessing about it is not the way to do things. Remembering the day is much more important than the wall-to-wall media coverage being provided here in NYC today.

The one thing I will remember from that day is a conversation I had with one of the managers about our being the first ones in every morning. We both thought it was a great idea to come in early just so we could get home while there was still light outside.
