Wow. Even George Strong's projection was pessimistic. Annise Parker won by as big a margin, too, and Ron Green knocked off Bert Keller. Only Peter Brown's close loss kept this from being a clean sweep. Today was a good day.
UPDATE: It's no longer timely, but Christine has captured and posted a screenshot from a Sanchez campaign commercial in which Orlando appears to be glowing. It's pretty amusing.

Posted by: Michael on December 6, 2003 11:14 PMI was glad to see Keller lose. He sold out on the property tax issue, and even if I know Green isn't any more likely to help there, I think Keller's defeat sends a message loud and clear about the property tax issue.
And that can only be a good thing, long term, when future councilmembers consider the property tax. There's no excuse for a tax that rises 10% a year when inflation is very low.

And while it wasn't exactly timely when I posted it, there was an ironic moment after the election was over when Sanchez said that he probably should have spent money differently and done different commercials. They only ran that one ad for a week or two, and then they pulled it and chopped it up and into another ad. I wonder if they realized after all just how lame it was!
