Et tu, Bob?

At this point, I don't know if the rumors about Bob Gammage throwing his support to Carole Keeton Strayhorn will turn out to be true or not. But I do know this: If that does happen, then those obituaries I referred to will all report that Tony Sanchez held down the body of the state Democratic Party while Bob Gammage repeatedly whacked it with a baseball bat. Choose your next move carefully, Bob, that's all I'm going to say for now.

First things first: Strayhorn needs to get on the ballot. I am in Dallas and Strayhorn appears to have no organization here at all. Friday the Austin office gave me a Dallas number (which I verified by calling Strayhorn's office twice), and that number gives a recording for "America's politically incorrect". So my only option was to download the petition form. However, I had to get the form notarized before sending it in. I think very few people will be willing to get their petition notarized.

So, perhaps Strayhorn is focusing on Austin. But as of now, I'm not rating the petition drive as a sure thing.

John Kerry mortally wounded the democrats. You are just watching its death throes. Dubya has mortally wounded the republicants. They will just take longer to die.

This worries me too. If Bob does that, I'm not sure what to say. It's bad enough that many Democrats may find their way into OTG's camp by novmeber (if she shows that she is the only one to defeat perry). We don't need to try to make that happen though any sooner.

I think this rumor was started b/c there were whisperings about drafting Gammage to run for TDP chair.

How about that?

Having read Houstonians4JohnKerry : Message: SDEC Meeting Happenings and Whispers after attending the SDEC meeting myself, I noticed that the "large contingency from SD13" - the largest Democratic senate district in the state - were members of the caucuses who met after the SDEC meeting. There was one however, who seemed out of place. So here's another rumor, were they there to make sure the legislative report card was not released before the runoff?

I live in Dallas and I second MaxConcrete's comment. Kinky Friedman's already got campaign commercials on the air featuring Willie Nelson. He's even running them on Air America, where you'd think most of the audience voted in the primary.

In constrast, I haven't heard jack from Strayhorn. She has a better shot than Friedman, but she's gotta get organized and do it like yesterday. If it's Bell, Friedman, and Perry in Nov., I fear Perry coasts to victory.

"Constrast??" Oh, goodness, and I previewed too! Oh, well, we all make mistakes.
