The Capitol gets on the RSS bandwagon

Grits brings the news that the Texas Capitol website now has numerous RSS feeds for tracking committee meetings, calendars, bill information, and more. They've even got a PDA/cellphone lookup feature. Outstanding! I join him in saluting the folks in Austin who made this happen. It's a model that others should emulate. See his post for a list of the feeds, and subscribe today.

Surprisingly, the Texas Legislature is substantially ahead of the curve among state legislatures in making available online information about bills, calendars, legislative information, and statutes. For instance, Texas makes all of its statutes available online in four formats: HTML, Zipped HTML, Zipped PDF, and Zipped Word. By contrast, Pennsylvania does not have its statutes online at all; the only site where they are available is one maintained by a Pennsylvania lawyer.
