On the bright side

We may still have Speaker Craddick, but as of noon yesterday, we no longer have this:

Bye-bye, Martha. Enjoy your retirement. I know I will.

I'll be curious to see how long the signs stay up (that one's on Richmond at Eastside; there's another on Kirby at Richmond), and to see when the signs directing you to Rep. Ellen Cohen's office will go up. That office will be at 3355 West Alabama, Suite 1230, near the intersection of Buffalo Speedway and West Alabama, by the way. If you see the sign before I do, send me a note.

Kuff- I mean this kindly. Would it be possible for you to refrain from making mean personal comments about the people with whom you disagree? Call me Pollyanna, but it's hard for me to sift through your often insightful commentary when I'm stopped by an entry like this one. There's really no point in it; you're not really going to enjoy her retirement, you're just making a point about Cohen's office.

I realize this is a pointless comment for everyone else's consumption, but I didn't know how to contact you anonymously any other way.

Thanks for indulging it.

Don't hold your breath waiting for it to come down.

Still at least one Talmadge Heflin sign in Alief. South bound Beltway at Bellaire or Kirwood at Bellaire - I don't remember which.

Disheartened,

I appreciate your concern. I can't say I have any warm feelings towards Martha Wong, and I certainly can't say I'm sorry she lost her election. I do care about what my readers think, though, so I apologize to you and to anyone else who feels as you do about this post. This sort of thing will not become a habit, I assure you. Thank you for letting me know how you feel.

Thank you so much. That means a lot to me. I felt like I made a small difference today. Keep up the good work.

Personally, I find it offensive that elected politicians have signs that state their name. Constables & JP's have signs all over the place stating "patrolled by...". In my mind these are little less than political signs promoting re-election. I wouldn't have any problem if the signs merely stated the office. I'm guessing these signs (like Wong's) are paid for by the general electorate. They shouldn't be name specific.
