How about a little salvage?

I can accept that the Wilshire Village Apartments are going to be torn down. If they weren’t going to be maintained by their owner, these things do happen. What I think is an unforgivable sin is for all of the perfectly good historically-authentic materials in those apartments – hardwood floors, period fixtures, and so forth – to be destroyed and tossed into a landfill. Surely something can be done about that, right?

  1. Awful. This is why I am running for City Council. We should save historic buildings like Wilshire Village Apartments!

There seems to be a question being raised about this “the owner didn’t maintain the complex” position and in fact one of the two owners had been working on the electrical problems since February. The other partner, it seems, just wanted to tear it down. And got a little help from City Hall.

You can add this to the top ten reasons not to ever vote for Bill White for anything. Or for quite a few others.

The city told the tenants not to pay rent? So they could be evicted for non-payment of rent if need be?

Isn’t that what these folks help with? (I may be unclear on the concept.)
