What if the BCS ran the NFL?

As the NFL begins its playoffs today, now might be a good time to reflect on what their postseason might resemble if they crowned their champion the same way that the BCS does. Scary, no?

I really wish the BCS would figure something out so that college football fans and the players feel comfortable ending the season knowing the undisputed #1 team. I have a feeling things will never change though, unless the NCAA and NFL figure out a way to reconfigure their playing schedules. One of the main arguments I have heard for dismissing the playoff idea is the overlap in scheduling between the NFL and NCAA. Really is a shame that college football players give it all they have and at the end of the day sport writers and opposing coaches decide their fate…never has seemed right

  2. This year I might not mind: We’d get the Patriots and the Cowboys with no playoffs.

Most years it would be a catastrophe, as it was this year in college ball. OU, USC, Kansas, the winner of LSU-Ohio State, all could make legitimate claims.

The economics of bowls, though, are too lucrative to think they’re ever going away. Cities become reliant on the cash, and boosters wield tremendous influence over the process.

But please, let’s not spread the madness any further: The silliness of suggesting a pro BCS shows exactly why it’s a joke at the college level.
