Friday random ten: You better watch out

I have a ton of Christmas music in my collection, but only ten songs that refer to Santa Claus in the title:

1. Back Door Santa – Jon Bon Jovi
2. Here Comes Santa Claus – Asleep At The Wheel
3. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus – John Mellencamp
4. The Night Santa Went Crazy – Weird Al Yankovic
5. Ride On, Santa, Ride On – The Priestess and The Fool
6. Santa Baby – Madonna
7. Santa Brought Me Clothes – Trout Fishing in America
8. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town – Ella Fitzgerald
9. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town – Pointer Sisters
10. Zat You, Santa Claus? – Asylum Street Spankers

We’re one week out, so I hope everyone is being nice. What’s Santa bringing to your iPod this week?

Kuff, please tell me you have Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby” somewhere on you iPod. It is the Platonic ideal of which Madonna’s version is a mere shadow.

    And Merry Christmas!

  2. Linkmeister says:

Santa’s Beard — The Beach Boys
Here Comes Santa Claus — Bob B. Soxx & the Blue Jeans
Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town — The Carpenters
Here Comes Santa Claus/Frosty The Snowman/Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer — The Carpenters
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town — The Crystals
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town — Diana Krall
Here Comes Santa Claus — Elvis Presley
Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town — Mannheim Steamroller
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town — Perry Como
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus — The Ronettes
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town — Tony Bennett

The Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans, Crystals and Ronettes songs are all from Phil Spector’s “A Christmas Gift for You” album. The Perry Como, Elvis and Beach Boys songs are from Time-Life’s “Treasury of Christmas” album. The Tony Bennett song is from “A Swinging Christmas.” The Carpenters songs are from their “Christmas Portrait.” The Diana Krall song is from her “Christmas Songs” album. The Mannheim Steamroller song is from their “Christmas Song” album.

  3. CS – Alas, most of my Christmas music comes from various CDs accumulated over the years, and none have the Eartha Kitt version, which I agree is the standard by which all others are measured. It’s an oversight I’ll correct next time I go shopping at the iTunes store. And Merry Christmas to you, too!
