Friday random ten: I get knocked down, but I get up again

I figure this is a good week for some songs that make you want to get back up and keep fighting.

1. Arthur McBride – SixMileBridge
2. Tubthumping – Chumbawamba
3. We’re Not Gonna Take It – Twisted Sister
4. We’re Not Gonna Take It – The Who
5. We’ve Been Through Some Crappy Times Before – Austin Lounge Lizards
6. This Land Is Your Land – Bruce Springsteen
7. The Bitch Is Back – Tina Turner
8. Burning Down The House – Talking Heads
9. There Is Power In A Union – Billy Bragg
10. We Are The Champions – Queen

They help me do that, anyway. What music gets you in the mood to carry on with the good fight?

these two should have been in the random ten… j bullard

  2. Those are fine choices, but I only list songs that are in my collection, and neither of those are. I do have the Big Daddy version of “Eye of the Tiger”, however, and to make it up to you I give you their rendition:

There’s at least one that expresses the absolute opposite feeling: “I Fought the Law (and the Law Won” by The Bobby Fuller Four.

  4. Waiting for the Great Leap Forward – Billy Bragg. I love that he keeps updating the lyrics to keep it current, although I’m partial to the Workers Playtime version. It reminds me to just put my shoulder down and stay focused.

Also, Joan Jett, Bad Reputation. I dare you to listen & not feel a little more prepared to take on the world.
