Friday random ten: Parenthetically speaking, part 9

Ten more parenthetical songs for your Good Friday contemplation.

1. Mele Kalikimaka (Hawaiian Christmas) – Bing Crosby
2. Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight) – The Ramones
3. Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway) – Billy Joel
4. The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone) – U2
5. Money (That’s What I Want) – The Beatles
6. Murder (Or A Heart Attack) – The Old 97s
7. Muscle Car Blues (Tell Me Another) – Carp 18
8. My Cat Fell In The Well (Well! Well! Well!) – The Manhattan Transfer
9. Naive Melody (This Must be The Place) – John Dissed
10. One World (Not Three) / Love Is The Seventh Wave – Sting

Two Christmas songs for Easter week seems oddly appropriate. Throw in another U2 number and the naughtiest tune The Manhattan Transfer ever recorded and you’ve got yourself a fine list. Happy Friday, y’all.

One Response to Friday random ten: Parenthetically speaking, part 9

  1. Vince Leibowitz says:

After our Christmas ’86 trip to see my grandparents in Iowa, I’ll never be able to listen to Mele Kalikimaka again. It was a new conversion van, and whatever Christmas tape (yeah, we rocked cassettes back then) this was on got stuck in the cassette player and every 20 minutes like clockwork for 12 hours, I heard this song. I and a screwdriver finally dislodged said cassette after we got to the farm and I knew I could access some tools. Somehow, nobody noticed it had (a) stopped playing (b) been dislodged or (c) that the stereo worked just fine for the next few years. Oh yeah, and I still have the tape.
