Early voting starts today

This is it. Time to vote. Stace was there for last night's rally at Discovery Green - there will be a similar rally tonight in Austin. Everything you need to know about early voting for Harris County is here (PDF). Everyone expects it to be busy, so plan accordingly. And leave a comment here with your experience when you hit the polling place. Let's see if those projections are right.

I voted this morning on West Gray. The line was long, but moved along fairly quickly. I was done within a half hour. I have to say it looked like an Obama croud for the most part.

Got to the Acres Home Multi-Purpose Center at about 830. The line was already very long, maybe 200 people. The lines were very slow, a computer used to verify voters was down. Congresswoman Shiela Jackson Lee showed up, she explained the delays to the crowd. It took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to get through the line.

It felt great to cast my 2008 ballot.

The Power Center on at south post oak and Main had very short lines this afternoon, most people in and out in 15 minutes. it is about 5 minutes from I-610 under normal driving conditions.

I voted in Austin at UT. I got in line at 4:33 and I had finished voting and left by 4:44.

I did see a much longer line at a Randalls grocery store around 1:30, but I think that was because their computer system had gone down, since no one was actually in any of the booths voting. Everyone was just standing in a long line that went out the door.
