The five-thousand dollar club

David Ortez does some digging through the campaign finance reports for the three Mayoral contenders and comes up with a list of those who gave the legal maximum of $5000 to each. Gene Locke is the big winner, with more than three times as many such contributors as either Annise Parker or Peter Brown. Check it out.

For a complete listing of who’s given what to whom, Bradley Olson posted this Excel spreadsheet last week with data from all city campaigns. Note that candidates for the District H special election appear more than once, as they had reporting deadlines in April, May, and June.

Well, that isn’t really a complete listing, because there are still several candidates whose finance reports are still not posted on the City of Houston’s CFR website. Those whose reports I have not yet seen include:

TJ Huntley (Mayor)
Carlos Obando (At Large #5)
Alex Wathen (District A)
Bob Schoelkopf (District A)
Jarvis Johnson ((District B)
Alfred Molison (District C)
Peter Acquaro (District F)
Lewis Cook (District F)
Robert Kane (District F)
Mills Worsham (District G)
Richard Sedita (District G)

According to the search page, “The City Secretary has two business days to post reports from the date of filing.” I do not know what the holdup is. I can tell you from speaking to Alex Wathen, whose interview I did yesterday, that he turned in his form – he later emailed me a copy of his receipt from the city – but it’s not up yet. All I can say is that this is very annoying.
