Early results: Good, bad, and weird

The good so far:

Jessica Farrar at 75% in early voting.

Rick Noriega just barely under 50% in early voting.

Armando Walle wining the early vote and within 100 votes overall.

David Mincberg and Diane Trautman cruising, Adrian Garcia at 56%.

The bad so far:

Al Edwards leading Borris Miles with 62%. Ugh!

The bizarre:

Mark Thompson within a hair of 50% in the RRC race? WTF?

More to come…

Rick Noriega just barely under 50% in early voting.

That’s good? It seems like a pretty weak showing to me, given the expectations the netroots have placed on the guy.

Well here’s mud in your eye for calling Texas 60-40 for Obama! (Just kidding… but it was sorta off)

There is still time for you to jump on the Hillary bandwagon! Texas is Hill Country!

  3. julia says:

and they’re calling it for Noriega.

    Congratulations. That rocks.

    (Gene Kelly?)

I don’t think anyone should get mud in their eye because a bunch of petty republicans who don’t believe in their candidate voted for Hillary. I’m still trying to think of a trick to weed out the republicans who did that, but wouldn’t it be interesting if they turned out to have been that difference between predictions and results?

    Also, Go Rick!!

  5. Jay says:

Just to be clear, by “weed out”, I mean look at the data and try to tell how many people voted for Hillary because Rush told them to, and not to find the individuals. Although I think its a sad violation of the spirit of our democracy, I respect the right to privacy in the voting booth of my fellow Texans.

Quorum Report has a Daily Buzz up on Royal Masset’s quick calculation that around 500,000 Republicans voted in the Democratic primary in Texas. Masset is described as a Republican commentator.

For the sake of argument, if those were all votes for Hillary, that puts the real Texas Democratic primary as follows:

    Hillary Clinton
    955,959
    40.47%
    52 delegates

    Barack Obama
    1,356,330
    57.42%
    74 delegates

Charles- Maybe you weren’t that off on the intent of the Democratic voters of Texas.

(The above percents don’t total 100% because of the votes for other candidates. (While I am a strong supporter of Joseph Biden, I am completely mystified with the 2,489 people who voted for him after he left the race.))
