Weekend link dump for July 21

How the Atlanta Braves wound up in the original NL West.

“Unlike immigrants, natural-born citizens such as Carlson are neither screened nor forced to pass a citizenship test nor made to swear an oath. And when they stray from the American way, no one thinks to tell them that they’re failing to assimilate.”

Wishing Bob Gibson all the best.

“Given this puzzling set of data points, the hedge-fund managers we spoke to leaned toward the theory that Epstein was running a blackmail scheme under the cover of a hedge fund.”

So maybe cord cutting isn’t quite as attractive now.

Screw Julian Assange, now and forever.

Some giant jellyfish news for you.

RIP, John Paul Stevens, former Supreme Court justice.

RIP, Dr. Edith Irby Jones, doctor who pioneered desegregation in Southern medical education and Houston health care for those without access.

“In fact, if all members of Congress were made to “go back” to the countries from which their families originated, as Trump suggested for the Democratic congresswomen, there would be four members left. That’s the number of Native Americans currently serving.”

“Christianity is a very visible part of the USWNT. So too, however, is support of the LGBTQ community. Multiple members of the team are open about being in same-sex relationships — including head coach Jill Ellis, co-captain Megan Rapinoe, Harris, Krieger, Tierna Davidson, Adriana Franch, and Kelley O’Hara. And a large portion of the fan base in women’s soccer is LGBTQ as well. When Hinkle refused to even put on a jersey with rainbow-colored numbers on it, it was a clear rejection of the very humanity of the queer community. That isn’t faith. That’s hate.”

“The numbers simply do not lie. America, as a whole, and swing states, in particular, are growing more diverse, more quickly. There is no way Republicans can change birth rates or curb this trend — and there’s not a single demographic megatrend that favors Republicans.”

RIP, Pumpsie Green, first black player for the Boston Red Sox, the last MLB team to integrate.

Rot in hell.

“….it was a clear rejection of the very humanity of the queer community. That isn’t faith. That’s hate.”

It absolutely was about hate and intolerance. One of the women refused to wear the ‘rainbow’ jersey, and she was ousted from the team. Intolerance. Either submit to the GBLT religion by wearing the jersey, or you’re blackballed.

A very similar thing has happened to Miss Michigan, who is or has been stripped of her title. Her ‘crime?’ She refused to put on a hijab, and apparently tweeted some factual info on black on black crime statistics. So this girl refused to put on a symbol of the suppression of women and was blackballed, too. She refused to submit, and good for her. She also refused to supplicate herself to a religion, and was blackballed because of it.

  2. Jules says:

No, she wasn’t stripped of her title for refusing to put on a hijab. More lies from Bill, no surprise.

  3. Bill Daniels says:

    Jules,

If you’ve got some other version of why she was stripped of her title, post the link, as I did. Otherwise, STFU.

  4. Jules says:

Cursing at me doesn’t make your lies true.

  5. Manny says:

Bill you will resort to any lies that suits you, just like the Russian Cheeto.

She was stripped because of her twitter tweets, not for refusing to put on a hijab.

  6. Manny says:

Bill don’t bother coming back with what about her tweets, those women know the rules, she broke the rules. Do you understand that?

Bill is it tough having to rely on lies to try to win arguments?

  7. Bill Daniels says:

    Jules,

Did your sudden case of the vapors preclude you from posting a link?

    Manny,

Thanks for posting a liberal friendly link for Jules. I think he’s clutching his crayons and teddy bear in his safe space right now.

    From the NYT article:

““It has been brought to the attention of Miss World America ‘MWA’ that your social media accounts contain offensive, insensitive and inappropriate content,” Ms. DeJack wrote.

The first tweet that drew the scrutiny of the pageant came in response to criticism of police officers about the Black Lives Matter movement.

“Did you know the majority of black deaths are caused by other blacks?” Ms. Zhu wrote on Twitter in October 2017. “Fix problems within your own community first before blaming others.”

In February 2018, in a tweet that she has since deleted, Ms. Zhu criticized a World Hijab Day awareness event at the University of Central Florida, where she had been a student before transferring.

“There’s a ‘try a hijab on’ booth at my college campus,” Ms. Zhu wrote at the time. “So you’re telling me that it’s now just a fashion accessory and not a religious thing? Or are you just trying to get women used to being oppressed under Islam.”

Ms. Zhu said in an interview on Saturday that her tweets had been taken out of context and that she was punished for her conservative views. She said that not wanting to wear a hijab did not make her an Islamophobe.”

Show me the moral turpitude here in these tweets. There isn’t any….just facts, AKA hate facts. The pageant doesn’t like Kathy’s politics, it’s just as simple as that, and even the fact that she was a ‘person of color’ couldn’t save her from the PC police. I guess she knows where she lands on the intersectional victimhood hierarchy now.

  8. C.L. says:

Bill, you may not be a racist, but you’re undoubtedly a bigot.

  9. Ross says:

Bill, none of the Muslim women I’ve worked with over the years thought hijab was a means to oppress women. Usually they thought it was liberating, since they didn’t have to worry about appearance. Ms. Zhu is an idiot. Perhaps she should consider talking to hijab wearing women before running away screaming like a baby.
