Judge Hidalgo has an opponent

For the general election.

Judge Lina Hidalgo

Humble ISD School Board president Martina Lemond Dixon announced Wednesday she is running for Harris County Judge as a Republican candidate in the 2022 election.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo was one of the youngest candidates and first Latina ever elected to office after she beat out Republican incumbent Ed Emmett in 2018 to become judge of the third-largest county in the country.

Dixon took aim at Hidalgo in her announcement, claiming she is “more interested in playing politics and advancing her out of touch progressive agenda than managing the largest county in TX.”

“Whether it is crime, flood recovery, roads or taxes, we can get it done and put our county back on track if we put politics aside and work together,” Dixon said.

Whatever. I am at this point officially not worried about Judge Hidalgo. I will look forward to seeing the January finance reports.

Martina Dixon and the Humble School Board have proven they don’t give one whit about the health and safety of their community. She’s so busy kissing up to Abbott, she’s failed to protect her constituents.

She’s flat out until to serve in ANY elected capacity.

Love her or not love her, claiming she is out of touch with the progressives who voted her into office is just ignorance, and ignorant of the CoH political climate and fan base.

    HUG TREES, NOT PEOPLE

Re: “she is “more interested in playing politics and advancing her out of touch progressive agenda.”

How inane … accusing a politician of engaging in politics.

    Tss, tss [shaking head]

That said, “playing” is much preferred over warring, fighting, and doing “combat” with opponents of a different political colour. Add “crusading” whatever the cause may be: Cross on a standard, or a coat hanger, or a foetus in lieu of a heraldic bird.

And who is out of touch here?

First, there is an ongoing pandemic: Social distancing has been prescribed by the experts in hygiene. So remaining out-of-touch and non-hands-on is good for disease control purposes.

Second, you can’t touch people any more. Not in the USA anyhow. You get accused of sexual harassment, midriff rape perhaps, even.

By way of transatlantic aside, before the grand pandemic, the politikos in EU were still cheek-pecking as a matter of courtly etiquette. You could even behold the male-Chancellor-on-female Powerfrau thing with regularity. — We kid you-all not.

You might even catch a foreign minister moving in for a ceremonial bow culminating in a hand-kissing in an erstwhile imperial antechamber.

The moral: Hug trees, fellow mortals. Don’t hug people!

I was thinking of running, but I really don’t have the time to spend and have other things to do, but the county judge should be investigated for the Elevate contract, which is the reason why you can’t get the HUD money. You will use fraud, waste, and abuse on the federal funding. If I am elected, I would get the federal grants and I would raise taxes on the rich. I have no friends, so I don’t owe favors to anyone.
