Saturday video break: I Heard It Through The Grapevine

What an amazing voice. What a tragedy his death was. Here’s Creedence Clearwater Revival with their almost-as-iconic version:

Once again I can say, what a voice. This isn’t their 11-minute radio epic, but I think it works. I don’t have a copy of it, but did you know that Smokey Robinson did this song, too?

Sorry, no liver version I could find. I was thinking as I listened to this that there needs to be a more modern version of it. Well, look what I found in the Up Next list for that video:

That’s Paul Weller singing with Amy Winehouse, backed by Jools Holland. And that brings me full circle, with another lament about how tragic Winehouse’s death was. Could you imagine her doing a duet with Janis Joplin? Maybe in another universe.
