Rain, rain, go away

After beautiful weather throughout the early voting period, the Houston area has had severe thunderstorms since yesterday. It didn’t rain all day everywhere, but it did rain a lot, and it was pretty heavy at times. If we get anything like that today, you can kiss those rosy 60% turnout projections goodbye. Let’s hope the storms pass quickly so people can get to the polls without difficulty.

Rain or no rain, if my precinct is any indication, turnout is going to be huge. Normally there are about 20 people at polls when they open, but th1s morning I was about 70 people deep in line when voting opened. And about 40% of the people on the sign-in page for the voter rolls were marked with EV for early voters.

If they’re already lining up, weather will not be a big issue. If anything, it’s supposed to start drying up ’round these parts after noon.
