As discussed last week, we now enter a period in which I will be publishing some number of interviews with Congressional candidates in contested Democratic primaries around Texas. There’s a lot of interesting and high-profile races and I’d love to talk to everybody, but that’s not going to happen. I hope to have as many as possible, and I’ll kick things off with a conversation with eight term US Rep. Silvestre Reyes, who represents CD16 in El Paso. Rep. Reyes is a Vietnam War veteran and worked for Border Patrol for 26 years before being elected to Congress in 1996. He is the second highest ranking Democrat on the Armed Services Committee, and has served as the Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the House Intelligence Committee.
