Tejano Insider

Here’s a new blog on the block – Tejano Insider, the official blog of the State Tejano Democrats. They’ve got a nice piece on Howard Dean’s visit to the 2005 Hispanic Leadership Summit in South Texas today. I’ll be adding it to the blogroll shortly. Check it out.

Your numbers may be accurate, but your analysis is flawed.

You fail to take into account the fact that the other Democrat Congressional races were not serious campaigns – Frost’s was.

Also, Frost had millions of dollars to spend the others did not. Frost was also a 26 year incumbent with the benefits of office and 12 previous campaigns under his belt.

Oranized Labor and the DCCC dumped heavy assets into this campaign to try to save an old friend. Labors efforts alone may have been worth $2 million.

The other factor you fail to tak into account is that there were efforts in Dallas by locals on behalf of Kerry-Edwards. This included blockwalking, phonebanking, etc. That effort was more likely to occur in Session’s district becuase that’s where the local Democratic Party was putting it’s emphasis. So this naturally generated more political activity in those areas of Dallas, a self fulfilling prophesy so-to-speak.

My grandmother lives in Session’s district and she was canvasssed buy Kerry-Edwards at least five times.

Given the factors that this was one of the most expensive congressional races in the country, you expect the numbers to be a little better. But the truth is you cannot expect to replicate these type numbers in a more normal or routine election – the money simply isn’t there.

So if you are trying to use this as some sort of argument to support “run everybody everywhere” your theory falls apart.
