For a million bucks, I’ll tell you where to find Bigfoot

That’s about as likely to happen as this is.

As GOP lawyers and leaders frantically search for proof of fraud to back allegations of election irregularities, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick offered to pay tipsters at least $25,000 for information leading to a conviction for voter fraud.

Patrick, one of President Donald Trump’s biggest boosters in Texas, said Tuesday the payments would be capped at $1 million. The money to encourage and reward tipsters would come from Patrick’s campaign fund, which held almost $15.5 million at the end of June.

Democrats dismissed the offer as a desperate and cynical stunt.

Complaining of fraud, Trump has claimed victory in last week’s election despite projections showing Democrat Joe Biden with more than enough electoral votes and despite Biden receiving almost 5 million more votes nationwide — a lead that has widened as more votes get counted.

But a flurry of lawsuits challenging the results in a number of states have failed to gain traction for Trump and Republican organizations, in part because judges have noted a lack of evidence of actual fraud.

Patrick, hoping to find supporting evidence, asked tipsters to turn their information over to law enforcement.

There are a million ways to dunk on this kind of idiocy, and I suppose it’s a sign of self-awareness that Patrick didn’t set up a 1-800 number for people to call. Honestly, though, nothing I could come up with could possibly top this:

He supplies a link to a news story in the subsequent tweet. (Here’s a story that turned out to be a lie, thus preserving Patrick’s millions for someone else.) You can close down Twitter today, there’s nowhere to go from here. The Trib has more.

I love the cut of Lt. Gov. Fetterman’s jib so much! Even though you’re disappointed with this year’s results TX Dems, you need to go after that damn fool Patrick hard. Anything less is political malpractice.

Y’all can laugh now, but for $ 25K, I bet people in Sheila Jackson Lee’s district will be spilling their guts about the voter fraud that keeps her in office.

    Some serious delirium around here.

Bill you just can’t keep your racists thoughts hidden.

Re Bill’s “Y’all can laugh now, but for $ 25K, I bet people in Sheila Jackson Lee’s district will be spilling their guts about the voter fraud that keep her in office.”

Leaving aside the question of any evidence to support the insinuation, why would there even be a rationale or motive to commit voter fraud when the 18th congressional district is minority-supermajority (17.83% White) and has been held by a black representative since 1973 (Barbara Jordan, Mickey Leland, Craig Washington, Sheila Jackson Lee, in that order, all Democrats).

Also, leaving aside the demographic composition of the district and known political preferences and voting patterns linked to demographics, with a win-margin consistently above 70% of votes cast, a lot of voter fraud would have had to occur for a different outcome, i.e. a win by the Republican opponent. Wouldn’t AG Paxton’s election fraud detail have detected it by now and instigated mass prosecutions requiring a massive expansion of capacity at the Harris County jail?

Is Patrick man enough to even reply?

Indeed. If you’re going to fraud strategically, do it in TX-10 or 23 or 24. The gerrymander contributes to the fact that Jackson-Lee has little trouble getting re-elected, so the Rs who don’t like that need to point the finger at their own.

Man up and pay up Dan.

  10. Bill Daniels says:

    Wolf,

Sheila Jackson Lee wins elections in the primary, not the general. Here’s how she does it:

I’m hot disagreeing with your demographic assessments. Of course that district will have a black Dem rep. It was created to do just that. No argument. We will argue about why it is Queen Sheila that seems to keep winning those primaries, though.

  11. Manny says:

Bill if I filled out an affadavit that you are a racist, would it make it true? Everything that Vera has is heresay or assumption, come back with your bigotry when Palmer or whomever Vera mentions is convicted and the conviction is final.

You don’t think that if it does occur the Republicans don’t engage in the same schemes? How many dead people voted for Trump in all those rural counties? How many people that are not citizens voted for Trump in all those rural counties.

By the way what happened to Trump helping the felons get out jail? They ain’t suppose to find work?

The new Republican agenda is to make the Black community the boogyman.

The party of racists, Republicans, will do anything to maintain power.
