Family in town

Mom and Dad, sister Eileen, and nephew Declan arrived today for Olivia’s baptism on Saturday. Sister Kristin and her boyfriend Mike arrive Friday, as do Olivia’s godparents (my college roomie Greg and Tiffany’s cousin Emilie, plus their respective spouses and Emilie’s son). Expect spotty blogging over the next few days. And many pictures to be taken.

You wait four months for baptism? It’s been a long time since catechism, but I thought baptism was as soon as practicable after the baby could get out in the world. On account of not letting the poor wee one languish in the limbo of the innocents should the worst happen.

    Greg,

It might be the first available date for the baptism where the family could be present. It might also be the first available date for the baptism due to the church’s schedule.

On a side note, am I the only one that thinks “Spotty Blogging” would be a decent name for a rock band? Or at least a decent rock album? 🙂

  3. William is correct. We were originally set for July, when Olivia was about seven weeks old, but my Mom was on the disabled list with a torn Achilles tendon, so we rescheduled. Besides, didn’t they get rid of Limbo?

  4. Greg Morrow says:

The attention I pay to Catholic theology could be measured in micro-eyeballs, but dismantling the Augustinian/Aquinean afterlife analysis would be a pretty major deal for the church, I’d think.

Besides, didn’t they get rid of Limbo?

No, despite his OxyContin use, he’s still on the radio. (Grin, duck, run very fast…)

My very best wishes to you and your family on the occasion of Olivia’s baptism!
