Meet Richard Morrison

I’d like to join with Byron and Greg in announcing the candidacy of Richard Morrison for the 22nd Congressional District. Richard will be taking on Tom DeLay in 2004, and he could surely use your support. I hope to have some more information on Richard in the near future, so watch this space.

    I’d contribute to anyone taking on Tom DeLay, but he doesn’t take Discover.

    Tell that guy to take a leaf from Dean’s book and get his internet operation solidly in place; he could get national interest and money from the good guys (that’s us Dems) if he tried, I suspect. I have no doubt he’ll need a fortune to defeat deMan.

    I’m probably wrong about this but I seem to remember DeLay only pulling in the high 50s – low 60s against nominal Dem/Libertarian oppo.

    If this really is the case, he is vulnerable. Someone with his power should pull 70s+ or have no oppo as did/does Archer/Culbertson.

    Linkmeister is right about the web – get a site and the major Dem sites (Kos/Atrios/MoveOn/etc) will generate a lot of feed which means money.

    Wait a minute — I distinctly remember hearing from my friends on the left that the evil, racist GOP had arranged the districts so most of them were noncompetitive, actually “disenfranchising” voters (to use the term that was popular).

    Surely you can’t be telling me that was just hyperbole of the moment? 🙂

    DeLay won 61-38 in 2002 against an opponent who had little funding. From what I know so far, Richard Morrison will have better luck at that.

    Kevin,
    What I said was then and what you say is now. And you are right – the redistricting before the courts is a Gerrymander, pure and simple.

    But then, given the positive effects Republican control have had on this country, I can’t see any reason I should want to vote any other way.
