APPARENT DIFFICULTY IN REPAIRING MAP
Sources report problems with three districtsThere are only three possibilities for the three judge panel reviewing the congressional redistricting map:
1. Accept the map
2. Reject the map
3. Attempt to resolve the constitutional and legal deficiencies by redrawing the map.
The meat of the story is behind their paid firewall, so the best I can do for now is speculate and look for newspaper stories later. I’d say the districts in question are 23 (Henry Bonilla), 24 (Martin Frost), and 25 (the new one that stretches from Austin to Brownsville). Obviously, the fact that there may be problems doesn’t mean the judges will take action, since they may decide it’s close enough, or there may be a split amongst them, or they may just punt to the Supremes since those guys’ll be getting it anyway. But perhaps there’s hope. Stay tuned.
Jeez, and I was about to start my new pen-pal exchange will my fellow District 25 mates in Rio Grande City. I would go visit them, but it’s a 5 hour drive.

Problems with the New Map
Charles found the Quorum Report post earlier today that suggests that there are problems with three of the new districts created by the new GOP map. I’d agree with Charles that the likely problems are in the 23rd, 24th and…
So, the decision on redistricting is in: http://www.txed.uscourts.gov/ and it looks like it upholds the legality of the new map. Big fun now.
