Does Berke Breathed read the blogs?

So, um, is it just me, or has anyone else been mentally substituting “political bloggers” for “comics characters” in the last two Opus strips?

(For those whose newspapers don’t carry it, the last two strips have been about there are no anthropomorphic female comic strip characters. Auxiliary girlfriends like Daisy Duck and Minnie Mouse don’t count.)

  1. Danil says:

What about the furries? Omaha is long retired, but you’ve still got Sabrina, and ZigZag, and um….

  2. CrispyShot says:

Brenda Starr? Danae in “Non-Sequitur”? Luann? Cathy? Tina’s Groove? Sally Forth? And while they don’t get top billing, Lucy, Sally, Peppermint Patty, and Marcie certainly do a lot of the heavy lifting in “Peanuts.”

Wait… were we talking blogs or comics?

  3. Crispy – Sorry, I should have been more clear. He was specifically talking about comic animals (i.e., Garfield, Snoopy, etc), not all comic strip characters.

  4. William Hughes says:

Actually, Satchel of “Get Fuzzy” spent last week getting in touch with his “feminine side”. Then again, even “Pearls Before Swine” lacks a female character.

  5. So, Wonkette is a guy now?
