Dreamhost problems

Looks like I’ve been suffering from the same Dreamhost permission problems that Byron, Orange Politics, and several folks in this MT support forum thread have been having problems. The fact that I can now save this post and see it on my main index means they’ve fixed it, even if I haven’t gotten an official resonse from their tech support yet. This is all a longwinded way of saying that my absence this morning was unplanned. I did save a few draft posts, so at least I’m not totally behind the eight ball.

On a side note, I had a variation of this problem twice, and I finally fixed it once and for all here. Note that it’s only an issue for BerkeleyDB users; I’ve switched to MySQL, so I knew that this time it wasn’t my fault.

  1. Hey, thanks for noticing! Unfortunately, I am already using mySQL, so I don’t think your fix applies since it’s related to Berkley DB. I’d love to hear that I’m wrong about that, so please let me know!

I will be fixing this problem in the near future by moving to WordPress. Meanwhile, we have got a primary election in 5 days to gab about! I need this working!!!

As a former fan of MT, I have to second the idea of moving to WordPress. Maybe it’s still the new car smell, but I absolutely love the thing so far. the “no rebuilding” feature alone makes it worthwhile..

I’m a MT user and was thinking on changing to DreamHost (btw, I use MySQl for the database). Should I consider another hosting company or will I be fine? Overall, how is their service?

    cheers

HI! I’m on DreamHost and having similar problems. Our servers here have been up and down due to hardware/software issues all weekend. It doesn’t really appear to be DreamHost’s fault and they’ve been busting their tailfeather’s to get the problem fixed.

They have been good in keep the domain admin’s informed. Mary Lu
