How’s by you?

I made a note last week to comment on Meryl Yourish’s link lament. I was amused by it, as I think most people were, but I was a little disappointed that no one mentioned Allan Sherman and his little ode to Frere Jacques. So I thought I’d mention it. Now you can have a different version of that song running endlessly through your head. You’re welcome.

UPDATE: I stand corrected. Rob Humenik made this observation last week. Way to go, Rob!

  1. I have a bunch of Alan Sherman MP3s… it’s amazing how comedy albums of the time like Sherman, Myron Cohen, and so on lack the rudeness and profanity of today’s comedians.

    *shrug*

    Chuck,

Not to toot my own horn, but…
    I did! I did!

The first thing I thought of when I saw Meryl’s song was Sherman singing Sarah Jackman. I love Allan Sherman!

What is the origin of the question …. “How’s by you”? I occasionally greet a person that way but have no idea where it came from.
