Potter publication date set

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will make its debut on June 21. Woo hoo!

At 768 pages, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” is more than one-third longer than its predecessor, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” Britain’s Bloomsbury Publishers said.

Geez. No wonder it took JK Rowling so durned long to write it.

  1. Ok, if the previous book was too long and needed seriously editing and dieting, why is a book 1/3 longer not even worse in these respects? Egads. Poor Gregory’s going to break his spine toting that puppy around in his napsack.

  2. And if it’s gonna be that long again between Book 5 and Book 6, I’m glad there’ll be a lot to read in the meantime.

  3. ChuckEye says:

Um, Goblet of Fire was 734 pages. 1/3 longer would be 978 pages, not 768 pages. Some sparky at AP needs remedial math…

  4. Maybe they mean the British edition. I bought the British boxed set for Tiffany for Christmas, and Goblet of Fire weighs in at just over 600 pages. (Smaller typeset and/or bigger layout, I guess.) I’d call 768 pages 1/4 bigger instead of 1/3 bigger than that, but it’s close enough.
